The municipal council in Vidin took office

The festive ceremony was attended by the Deputy regional governor Ani Arutyunyan and the Regional governor Ivo Atanasov, who, according to the powers assigned to him by the Law on Local Self-Government and Local Administration, has the duty to open the first solemn meeting of the newly elected municipal council, convened by his order. "Don't forget that you are here only and solely at the will of our fellow citizens, who sent You to protect only and only their interests. Because we are not important, our fellow citizens are important, our city is important. I am convinced that it will be easier for us if, with the joint efforts of the government, the mayor and the municipal council, we all go in the same direction, and that direction is the prosperity of our beloved city", said Mr. Atanasov in his greeting and made an appeal - the decisions for the municipality to be taken without political bias, interpersonal contradictions and economic interests.

A total of 33 municipal councilors in Vidin swore to uphold the constitution in the name of the Republic of Bulgaria, as well as the newly elected mayor of the municipality Dr. Tsvetan Tsenkov and the mayors of town halls elected in both rounds of the local elections. According to the Law on Local Self-Government and Local Administration, the first meeting was chaired by the oldest municipal councilor - Todor Valchev. The chairman of the Vidin municipal council was not elected today.

The chairman of the Municipal Election Commission in Vidin, Daniel Tsvetanov, handed over the election certificates, after which sworn declarations were signed.

The acting mayor of the municipality Yulian Petrov handed over the symbols of power to Dr. Tsvetan Tsenkov, newly elected for a second mayoral term.

In the elections for municipal councilors and mayors in the first round, the mayors of the municipalities of Antimovo, Bela Rada, Gradec, Druzhba, Dunavtsi, Žeglitsa, Inovo, Kalenik, Kapitanovtsi, Koshava, Kutovo, Major Uzunovo, Novoseltsi, Pokrajna, Sinagovtsi, Slana bara and Tarnyane. After a runoff election, there was an election in the municipality of Vidin and in the villages of Bukovets, Gomotartsi and Slanotran.

14.11.2023 (Tuesday), the first solemn meetings of the newly elected municipal councils will be held in the municipalities of Kula and Dimovo.
