Opening of Danube Bridge 2

Lyubomir Nizamov, ad interim Regional Governor of Vidin, was among officials at the opening of Danube Bridge 2. The official ceremony took place in the foundations of the bridge on Bulgarian territory and began by solemn religious ceremony performed by His Holiness Patriarch Neophyte. 
The event was attended by National Assembly President Mihail Mikov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria Oresharski and his Romanian counterpart Victor Ponta, the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Daniel Papazoff, Transport Minister Relu Fenekiu Romania, Mugur Isarescu, Prime Minister Romania in the period 1999 - 2000, the European Commissioner for regional Policy Johannes Hahn, government officials and MPs from both countries, representatives of local authorities from Vidin, experts who have worked on the project over the years, citizens and others. 
After the official welcome, band of the facility was cut by two builders, Bulgarian and Romanian who worked on the bridge, from the start of construction. 
The main objective of the project \"Development of Cross-Border / road and rail / bridge over the Danube between Vidin / Bulgaria / and Calafat / Romania /\" is the creation of a permanent road and rail link along the Pan-European Corridor ¹ 4 and the integration of national transport infrastructure in the European transport network. 
The total cost for implementation of the project and construction of the bridge and associated infrastructure for independent oversight and technical assistance for the preparation and management of the project as well as the acquisition of land for construction amounts to ˆ 255,660,901.
