Belogradchik marked 176 years since the outbreak of the 1850 uprising

The Deputy regional governor of Vidin region Prolet Georgieva-Nikolova was among the official guests in the town of Belogradchik, where the 176th anniversary of the outbreak of the uprising against ottoman rule in Northwestern Bulgaria was celebrated.

As a sign of respect for the memory of the heroes, the Deputy regional governor attended a memorial service, after which she laid a bouquet of flowers in front of their tombstones in the courtyard of the church of Sv. Georgi Pobedonosets. Prolet Georgieva-Nikolova also joined the organized procession to the Belogradchik fortress, led by the Town brass band of the town of the rocks. She laid a wreath at the monument to the fallen rebels and delivered a congratulatory address on behalf of the Regional governor Ognyan Asenov to the mayor of the town of Belogradchik Boyan Minkov. "These events reveal not only the tragic sacrifice of the rebels from the Northwest, but also their greatness. The uprising remains a lesson in patriotism and proof that even in the most difficult moments the spirit of a people can remain unyielding. History inspires us to be stronger, more united and more responsible for our future - to preserve our freedom, to uphold our values ​​and to work for a better and more dignified Bulgaria," the congratulatory address states.

The commemorative event was attended by the members of the 52nd National assembly Liliya Dimitrova, Tsvetomir Tsvetanov and Lyuben Ivanov, the Vidin metropolitan Pachomius and priests from the Vidin diocese, the mayor of the Ruzhintsi municipality, the deputy mayor of the Chuprene municipality, municipal councilors from the Novo selo and Kula municipalities, representatives of institutions, organizations, students and citizens.

The finale of the evening was marked by a ceremonial fireworks display.
