The leadership of Regional administration Vidin participated in the holiday commemorations as a gesture of respect and gratitude for the contribution of Bulgarian awakeners toward preserving the native language, culture, and historical memory.
The Regional governor of Vidin region Ognyan Asenov and the Deputy regional governor Prolet Georgieva-Nikolova took part in the formal observance of the Day of the national awakeners.
They laid a wreath and a bouquet at the monument to Bishop Sophronius of Vratsa and at the mausoleum of Exarch Anthim I, paying tribute to the work of Bulgarian men of letters, enlighteners, and "awakeners"—whose legacy remains an example of total dedication to Bulgaria to this day.
"Let us draw inspiration from the contributions of Bulgarian awakeners, men of letters, and revolutionaries, following their ideals for national and spiritual advancement! As long as we keep their precepts in our hearts, our faith in Bulgaria’s future will continue to guide us along the right path forward," stated the Regional governor Ognyan Asenov in his address to teachers and educational figures in the Vidin region.
Representatives of public and cultural institutions, students, and local citizens also laid wreaths and flowers during the commemorative event.
