The Vice - Governor of Vidin Region Mrs.Elka Georgieva yesterday was a guest on the feast of the Muslim mosque in Vidin. She attended the traditional dinner (iftar) at the invitation of the regional mufti Ali A. Necati. 
Iftar is a religious rite in which Muslims demonstrate their love to neighbours as those who are well-off donate mercy in the form of food to their needy brothers. It is held in the eve of the Muslim holiday Ramadan Bairam. 
\"Tolerance and mutual respect between people of different religious and cultural traditions and customs are the basis of a decent and cohesive society,\" said the Vice – Governor. Mrs. Georgieva presented congratulatory address to the Muslim community on behalf of the Governor Mr. Plamen Stefanov. 
The Regional Mufti explained the spiritual message of the dinner (iftar), at which people sit as equals in mutual forgiveness and pray for health and prosperity. 
The festive dinner was attended by Mr. Murat Diekmann, counsellor from the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey, the mayor of Vidin Mr. Rumen Vidov, representatives of Vidin Holy Bishoric and the Regional History Museum.
