In the period April 16 – 17 2013, Îáëàñòíà Regional administration Vidin was a host of the Second international partner meeting on project TRANSDANUBE - „Sustainable Transport and Tourism along the Danube”. The meeting was opened by Dipl.Eng. Lyubomir Nizamov, Deputy regional governor of Vidin region and was held in the Conference hall of the Regional administration Vidin. The meeting was attended by the 14 project partners from Bulgaria, Serbia, Romania, Austria, Slovakia, Germany and Hungary.
During the meeting were discussed the current activities on the project. The fulfilled activities were reported and the attendees discussed the progress on the different work packages. The project partners formed different working groups and discussed the regional cross-border cooperation and the good practices for sustainable mobility in tourism. There was a discussion on the draft of the Common vision for Sustainable mobility in tourism and the framework of the Regional action plans in the Danube area.
TRANSDANUBE aims to develop the sustainable mobility along the Danube through the promotion of alternative models of transport – train, bus, bicycle and ship and to spread the concept for sustainable development of tourism in the Danube region. The project is financed by the South East Europe Transnational Cooperation Programme and there are 14 financing partners from 6 countries and more than 35 strategic partners and observers. TRANSDANUBE contributes to achieving the objectives of the European polices and strategies and particularly the implementation of the European Strategy for the Danube region.
During the two years of the implementation of the project will be developed an International report about the status of the sustainable mobility in the Danube region and will be developed a Common soft mobility vision. In the framework of the project will be developed Regional action plans, sustainable transport offers, soft mobility tourism packages, digital map that provides information about the available mobility and soft mobility tourism packages and the development of the regional marketing plans and specific activities.
