The Regional governor Ivo Atanasov and Deputy regional governor Ani Arutyunyan, together with the Deputy mayor and secretary of the Vidin municipality Borislava Borisova and Emiliyan Enchev, attended the Holy Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral of St. Dimitar Thessalonician, officiated by His Eminence Metropolitan Daniil of Vidin.
According to tradition, today, 6th of January (Baptism of the Lord) - St. Jordan's Day, from the two churches in Vidin to the "Baba Vida" fortress, a festive lithic procession, led by the brass band, left.
On the central city beach, the Bishop of Vidin celebrated the Great Water Blessing, after which 9 participants entered the race to "rescue" the Holy Epiphany Cross from the icy waters of the Danube river.
In the ritual, the first to reach the shrine was Kristiyan Dochev, a student at PPMG "Exarch Antim I". The twelfth grader participated for the fourth time, and for the second year he managed to "save" the cross, two years ago he also became the first in the Epiphany ritual in the village of Sinagovtsi.
