During the commemorative ceremony on the occasion of the 149th anniversary of the heroic death of the revolutionary poet and as a sign of respect for the feat of the national hero and his detachment, the Regional governor Mrs. Ani Arutyunyan and the Deputy regional governor Mrs. Irena Nikolova laid a wreath in front of the bust-monument in Vidin. On June 1st, Mrs. Arutyunyan also participated in the national celebration with a rally with fireworks display in the central square in Vratsa, where the president and vice-president of the Republic of Bulgaria, the chairman of the National assembly, deputies and public figures came to the restored monument to bow to the memory of Botev. "Remembering is not a formality. It is a responsibility. Being worthy heirs is a choice," the regional governor noted.
Today, on June 2nd, at exactly 12:00 p.m., under the sound of sirens in Vidin, representatives of state institutions and local authorities, public organizations, students and citizens bowed their heads to the heroic feat of Hristo Botev and the immortal Bulgarian detachment, who died for the freedom and independence of Bulgaria.
