The festive October the 26th began with the Patriarchal Holy Liturgy, celebrated in the cathedral church "St. Dimitar of Thessaloniki" by His Holiness Daniil - Patriarch of Bulgaria and Metropolitan of Sofia together with priests from Vidin Diocese. The Regional governor Mrs. Ani Arutyunyan joined the traditional liturgy procession to the central "Bdintsi" square, accompanied by the City brass orchestra, which included representatives of state institutions and the local government, Vidin holy metropolis, public organizations, students and citizens, as well as the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rosen Plevneliev in the period 2012-2017.
Earlier today, the Regional governor congratulated the people of Vidin on the holiday with the words: "We all look optimistically towards the future with the hope that Vidin will become a better place to live, acquiring an even more attractive appearance for all citizens, Bulgarian and foreign guests . I believe that the advantages and strategic location make the city an attractive destination and create prerequisites for unlocking opportunities that will contribute to the economic upswing, and it deserves its key place on the European map."
The solemn celebration of St. Dimitar day continued with a ritual of raising the flags of Vidin municipality of and the Republic of Bulgaria on the central square.
