The first newly constructed section between the villages of Makresh and Bela of the Vidin-Botevgrad expressway was opened for traffic

05.03.2024

Inspection of the route, with a length of 13.6 km. - part of the priority project in the investment program of RIA and MRDPW, which was built with funds from the republic's budget, was made today by the Minister of regional development and public works Andrey Tsekov. Vidin's Regional governor Ivo Atanasov and the Deputy regional governor Ani Arutyunyan expressed their satisfaction with the fact that the heaviest section is already in operation, which largely eases traffic by moving it away from the populated areas. The regional leadership also noted the merits of active citizens who protested in recent years with a request for the construction of a high-speed road connecting Vidin with the capital.

The section - Makresh village - Bela village runs along a new route and is constructed with two lanes for movement in one direction, including a median dividing strip, benches and an emergency lane, in certain places it has larger longitudinal slopes and a lane for slow moving trucks. Two road junctions and a viaduct, a bridge over the Archar river, road and agricultural underpasses and overpasses, culverts, etc., were built on it.

The appointment of a State reception commission for the issuance of Act 16 and a use permit is pending.

According to the Regional minister Andrey Tsekov, active work continues on the remaining sections of the 190-km highway to Botevgrad. Minister Tsekov indicated 2027 as a realistic deadline for the completion of most of its construction, and he defined the section between Vratsa and Montana as the most problematic section.

The opening of the route between the villages of Makresh and Bela was attended today by Eng. Yasen Yordanov - chairman of the Management Board of RIA, the director of the Regional road administration - Vidin Plamka Radoslavova, a representative of the contractor company "Avtomagistrali" Ltd. and others.
