On "Bdintsi" square, His Holiness blessed the residents and guests of the old capital city, offering a pure prayer for the health and well-being of the entire Bulgarian people. The Deputy regional governor Irena Nikolova congratulated him on his election as spiritual head of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, wishing Daniil - Patriarch of Bulgaria and Metropolitan of Sofia a worthy mission in the service of God and successful deeds in the name of the prosperity of the church institution. "Lead our Motherland and the Bulgarian people to peace, kindness, mutual respect and understanding," said Mrs. Nikolova.
In the liturgical procession, which included representatives of the local and spiritual authorities in the Vidin region, Bishop Pachomius of Branitsa, mayors of municipalities, institutions and citizens, continued to the cathedral church of St. great martyr Dimitar of Thessaloniki, where lay people received the blessing of His Holiness.
The visit of the Bulgarian Patriarch and Metropolitan Daniil of Sofia continues in other dioceses in the country.
