The attendees discussed issues, related to the organization of traffic to Romania, as well as reducing the conditions for road transport accidents. At the meeting, it became clear that the traffic to the Vrashka chuka and Bregovo border checkpoints has also increased, and between the villages of Dimovo and Bela there are four sections with a concentration of road accidents.
The stakeholders agreed, that the causes of the HGV queuing problem are complex. A solution in a long-term would be the construction of the high-speed road to Botevgrad, as well as the expansion of the capacity of the border crossing, the participants of the meeting were categorical.
According to the Regional governor Ivo Atanasov, one of the reasons for the increased traffic of heavy goods vehicles to Vidin is the suspended use of the ferries near Oryahovo and Nikopol, due to the low level of the Danube river.
At the meeting, the director of the Directorate of Internal Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Petar Kotsin, noted that the law enforcement officers implement a transit regime, but present is the problem with the emergency cases.
The head of the Vidin department of the Executive Agency "Automotive Administration" Ivan Ivanov noted the alarming trend of TIR’s passing through the city, as well as cars carrying dangerous goods, at a time when the central Pannonia boulevard is being repaired.
Regional administration Vidin is searching for options, for dealing with the problem, which has not found it's solution for years, in order to protect the life and health of all residents of Vidin region.
