Ended the Study Visit in the framework of project TRANSDANUBE - „ Sustainable Transport and Tourism along the Danube”

A delegation from Vidin region visited Austria and Slovakia in the period 10 – 14 June 2013, in the framework of the planned activities on project TRANSDANUBE - „Sustainable Transport and Tourism along the Danube”. 
From Bulgaria there were representatives of small and medium companies, NGOs in tourism/ transport sectors and from Regional administration Vidin. 
The main purpose of the Study visit was the good practice collection that will rise the awareness of the potential opportunities for mobility in tourism /activities on Work package 6 - TRANSDANUBE/. The study visit was attended by representatives of the project partners from Austria, Germany, Hungary, Slovakia and Bulgaria. 
During the visit there was presented real possibility to combine different kinds of transport during traveling to the local tourist spots, including using one ticket to several tourist destinations. 
The Self-governing region Bratislava, TRANSDANUBE project partner, organized a workshop during the visit in Slovakia. There was a presentation of the strategy for the development of transport and tourism made by the representatives of the Slovak Ministry of Transport. Experts from the municipal administrations in Neusiedi am See and Purbach presented a good practice in the transport organization with accent on the rail, sea and cycling transport. 

TRANSDANUBE aims to develop the sustainable mobility along the Danube through the promotion of alternative models of transport – train, bus, bicycle and ship and to spread the concept for sustainable development of tourism in the Danube region. The project is financed by the South East Europe Transnational Cooperation Programme and there are 14 financing partners from 6 countries and more than 35 strategic partners and observers. TRANSDANUBE contributes to achieving the objectives of the European polices and strategies and particularly the implementation of the European Strategy for the Danube region. 
During the two years of the implementation of the project will be developed an International report about the status of the sustainable mobility in the Danube region and will be developed a Common soft mobility vision. In the framework of the project will be developed Regional action plans, sustainable transport offers, soft mobility tourism packages, digital map that provides information about the available mobility and soft mobility tourism packages and the development of the regional marketing plans and specific activities.
